On a recommendation from a preacher i've recently met, i watched 'A Case for Christ' I read the book a few years back but i couldn't remember too much about it.
So, for those of you who haven't seen it, it is about this Atheist who starts investigating Christianity and comes the inescapable conclusion that Jesus is the son of the one true god, and that he came to earth to save us from sin and damnation at the cost of his own life. All the while the narrators wife is in the process of converting to Christianity and encouraging the poor guys acceptance of these so called truths.
I felt sorry for the guy with the way his wife was manipulating him by leaving Chick Tracts around the house and stuff. I don't know what i would do in that situation, but I have to say that the marriage would most likely not survive that. Anyway, in order to find out if there was anything to the bible he runs around talking to all kinds of experts about it and they all tell him that the bible is, in fact, the inspired word of god. And here is my main problem with this movie, he talked to all these bible experts who had all built their careers on the assumption that the bible was true and had fabricated a huge body of knowledge and text to collaborate their faith.
I would have taken him much more serious if he had spent an equal amount of time talking to people who were arguing against Christianity or reading some of the books on my suggested reading page. But if he had done that he would have realized that Christianity was a joke, left his wife, and never made all the money he made off his book and the film tie in.
i think i see what his motivations were.
